~We Family Radio
Blessings and good morning, friends and family. Thank you for tuning in to We Family Radio. We have an urgent national weather warning. Let's get right into it. A significant long-duration winter storm is currently impacting over 235 million people across more than 40 states. That's a staggering number. The scope of this system is massive, stretching from the southern Rockies clear across to New England. And the primary threats are widespread heavy snow, sleet, and freezing rain. This combination is leading to extremely hazardous conditions. The weight of the ice from freezing rain is already causing tree damage and bringing down power lines. We must prepare for likely travel disruptions, and more critically, the high potential for prolonged power outages. And that's compounded by the dangerously cold air moving in behind the storm. We're looking at frigid temperatures, gusty winds, and life-threatening wind chills. So let's cover essential safety precautions. The number one rule is to avoid travel. If you don't have to be on the roads, please stay home and ensure your home is ready. Have an emergency kit with flashlights, extra batteries, non-perishable food and water. Now, with the high risk of power outages, let's talk about heating your home safely. This is where we see the most tragic accidents. The most important piece of advice is what not to do. Never, under any circumstances, use a gas stove, oven, or an outdoor grill to heat your home. This is absolutely critical because they release carbon monoxide, which is odorless, colorless, and deadly. Here are some safe alternatives. Safe options include a properly ventilated fireplace or wood stove or an indoor safe space heater designed for use during power outages. Follow all manufacturer instructions precisely. And most importantly, every home must have working carbon monoxide detectors, especially near sleeping areas. To summarize, we highly encourage you to stay informed and stay tuned to your trusted local and national resources. Stay off the roads and have a plan for staying warm safely. Please check on your neighbors, especially the elderly, and let's continue to keep one another lifted up in prayer. We love you, God bless you, and have a beautiful and blessed day in the Lord. Stay safe, everyone.
